Broom Pipeline Recovery
Project Synopsis: The Broom field is located in the East Shetland basin approximately 7km SW of the heather platform in 140m of water. Following the detection of low fluid arrival temperatures in Dec. 2008 PFM engaged Clear Well Subsea to investigate probable causes and provided operation support for the investigation phase. CWS Solution and Scope Services: A detailed review of the Broom pipelines was carried out which identified two potential failure causes, following the preliminary evaluation work bundle stabilisation and intelligent pigging operation were carried out which conclusively identified the pipeline failure mode and the probable causes. This information was used as a basis for the replacement pipeline project which commenced in mid 2009. The CWS scope included; initial investigation and evaluation, development of detailed pigging and stabilisation programmes, operational support onshore and offshore for the intelligent pigging programme, operational support onshore and offshore for the pipeline cleaning programme, development of preliminary pipeline design and routing for replacement pipeline and costing of same. |
